Nexus: n. meaning connection, link or tie…
Hello Nexus Neighbors,
When I told my wife that I was going to quit my banking job and open a brewery, she simply said, “Great!” I felt like I was in the middle of my favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation movie. The one where Captain Kirk and Picard get pulled into the “NEXUS,” a heavenly place where everything is perfect. This was my chance to open an establishment that rivaled Captain Kirk’s nirvana. “Oh, my goodness,” I thought, “I have to do this”!
Our first step was to create great-tasting beer. Not as simple as it sounds, a lot of time and effort goes into our brews before we release them. As a guide, we took a page from Old Milwaukee’s history book and focused on making a beer so great that it would make Albuquerque famous.
Second, we paired that great-tasting beer with delicious, home-style southern food – what we like to refer to as New Mexican soul food. We offer dishes that Albuquerque has never seen before, such as our famous Southern Fried Chicken and Waffles, and New Orleans Style Gumbo.
Finally, we pour that fame-making, great tasting beer and serve the unique southern food in a special place. A Nexus (Latin for connection) of two great things. A place where people meet, socialize, and get to know their neighbors and fellow craft beer lovers in an environment that exists solely to give you pleasure.
Nexus Brewery is definitely about the beer (9 taps and counting), the incredible southern food, and of course the companionship of our Nexus Neighbors, but it is also about the nexus of all these things – what we like to call the Exbeerience!
For myself, it doesn’t get much more perfect than that.
At your service,
Ken Carson,
Owner, Nexus Brewery & Restaurant
